MPP Score Methodology

Every phone on MobilePhonesPro receives an MPP Score — a transparent, data-driven rating from 0 to 100. No editorial bias, no paid placements. Just specs, benchmarks, and math.

How It Works

The MPP Score is computed from 5 categories, each scored 0–100. The overall score is the weighted average of these categories. Every input comes directly from the phone's specification sheet — our database tracks 203 attributes per phone across 15,250 devices.

The formula is simple and reproducible:

MPP Score =

Performance × 0.25 + Camera × 0.25 + Battery × 0.2 + Display × 0.15 + Value × 0.15

Category Breakdown

🏎️

Performance

25% weight

Processor capability, benchmark scores, RAM, and storage speed.

Scoring Factors:

  • Chipset tier classification (Snapdragon 8 Elite → budget Unisoc)
  • AnTuTu benchmark score (when available)
  • Geekbench single-core and multi-core scores
  • RAM capacity (highest variant)
  • Storage type (UFS 4.0 → eMMC)

Camera

25% weight

Sensor quality, lens versatility, video capability, and optical features.

Scoring Factors:

  • Main sensor resolution (megapixels)
  • Rear camera count and versatility
  • Optical Image Stabilization (OIS / sensor-shift)
  • Telephoto and optical zoom capability
  • Video recording resolution and frame rates
  • Sensor physical size (larger = more light)
🔋

Battery

20% weight

Battery capacity, charging speed, wireless charging, and endurance.

Scoring Factors:

  • Battery capacity (mAh)
  • Wired charging wattage
  • Wireless charging support and wattage
  • Endurance rating (when available)
📱

Display

15% weight

Refresh rate, brightness, panel technology, resolution, and HDR.

Scoring Factors:

  • Refresh rate (60Hz → 240Hz)
  • Peak brightness (nits)
  • Panel type (LTPO AMOLED → LCD)
  • Pixel density (PPI)
  • HDR standard support (Dolby Vision, HDR10+)

Value

15% weight

Hardware quality relative to price — what you get per dollar.

Scoring Factors:

  • Average of Performance + Camera + Battery + Display scores
  • Compared against retail price
  • Higher spec-to-price ratio = higher Value score

Our Transparency Pledge

  • No paid placements. MPP Scores are computed algorithmically from spec data. No manufacturer can pay for a higher score.
  • Reproducible. Every weight and formula is published on this page. You can verify any phone's score yourself.
  • Data-driven. When benchmark data (AnTuTu, Geekbench, 3DMark) is available, it directly influences the Performance score.
  • Updated regularly. As new chipsets and technologies emerge, we update the tier tables to keep scores meaningful.
